Suez sold its remaining 25% interest in Northumbrian Water to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, which agreed to pay €377 million in April.

The French company said the disposal furthered its strategy of focusing on less capital-intensive activities – Northumbrian is committed to an £839 million capital improvement programme up to 2010 – and would free up funds for it to expand into environmental activities elsewhere in Europe that offered higher returns.
