Ofwat gets tough on leakage targets

The regulator can impose fines on water companies that do not perform. Thames and United Utilities are in its sights.

Thames Water will throw more resources – human and financial – at reducing leaks from its water pipes this year, under the threat of being fined more than £100 million by the industry regulator Ofwat.
