Shenzhen Water Bureau has announced that all wastewater treatment facilities in the city of Shenzhen will be opened up to public tendering, a feast for hungry wastewater investors in China’s coastal areas.

However, the city plans to keep control over the drainage network and will invest RMB12 billion (US$1.5 billion) over the next five years. A further RMB8 billion (US$990 million) is expected to come from the private sector.
