Dow is betting that it won’t need to build plants to sell UF membranes. GE and Siemens are not so sure.
The move into the UF market is not just a challenge to the current market leaders, GE and Siemens. It is also a challenge to the current business model. The UF market, particularly in the US, is vertically integrated: both GE (through Zenon) and Siemens (through Memcor) build plants and supply membranes.
