* The ADB is lending $600 million to help increase private sector participation in infrastructure development in Pakistan.

About 40 projects are expected to materialise during the pilot stage, with private resources financing more than 80% of the costs. The programme covers the power, transport and water subsectors, and an initial $400 million 15-year loan will be followed by a further $200 million injection on completion of the pilot phase.
