A Canadian forensic investigator’s report on corruption in the awarding of the Point Lisas desalination plant contract is a big setback for GE Ionics as it tries to negotiate a deal with Wasa on tariffs and liquidated damages.

Corruption allegations against Desalcott, the project company for the 130,000m3/d desalination plant at Point Lisas in Trinidad, have inflamed its ongoing dispute with the Water and Sewerage Authority (Wasa), the off-taker on the project.
