Aqualia moves into Eastern Europe

FCC’s drive into the international water sector continues with the acquisition of Czech water company SmVak. The Spanish company anticipates an EU funding boom.

Aqualia, part of the Spanish construction giant FCC, last month announced the acquisition of the Czech water management company SmVak from the Slovak group Penta for €248 million (including €79 million of debt) as part of an ongoing strategy to expand its international activity.
