China’s wastewater wastage worries

The boom in BOT wastewater treatment plants seems to have left investment in building wastewater networks behind. This suggests new priorities for the 11th Five-Year Plan.

The unprecedented level of investment in China’s wastewater sector may not have given value for money despite the environemental benefits now being experienced, according to Yu Xiaodong, deputy director general of the China International Engineering Consulting Corporation.
