The Suez board had a sticky time at a shareholder meeting on 6 May to agree a poison pill defence against hostile bids as it finalises its proposed merger with Gaz de France.
The shareholders were in a stroppy mood, not least because the company’s shares have been trading at above the €30 implied offer price. Shareholder activist Colette Neuville wanted to know whether the merger was “a privatisation of GdF or a nationalisation of Suez”.
