Pridesa has some special qualities which have enabled it to emerge intact from a tortuous sale process. With the sustainable development zeal of Acciona now behind it, the company looks stronger than ever. Christopher Gasson investigates.

Spain burst on to the international desalination scene in 2005, with Befesa, Inima, Aqualia, Cadagua, Sadyt and Tedagua notching up more than a million m3 of contracted capacity between them. All the while, Pridesa, the desalination company owned but unloved by RWE Thames Water, seemed left out of the feast.
