The Scottish water market will open up for competition in April 2008. As preparations move up a gear, just how realistic is the claim that Scotland will be “the first properly competitive water market in the world”?
In 2005, a legal framework was established for the introduction of competition in the water industry in Scotland. Preparations are now well underway, and services provider Gemserv announced in early January that it has won a contract to support the introduction and operation of a competitive environment in the Scottish water market.
