* After four very wet months, Thames Water has called off its hosepipe ban, but staff at HQ are said to be having to cope with different sorts of restrictions.
We are getting reports that the company’s new masters (led by Macquarie Bank) want to approve every expenditure in excess of £500. It seems that new chief executive David Owen wants to run a tight ship. He has also introduced a new work ethic to the company. There are complaints of “investment bankers’ hours and utility wages”.
