A new series of OPIC-backed funds could mobilise up to $800 million of investment for Africa. All OPIC needs to do is find willing fund managers.
The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) has announced its intention to establish a group of private equity funds that will focus on providing social and economic benefits in Africa. The funds are specifically designed to improve African employment, health and well-being through profitable investments in African companies, and will target sectors including water and sanitation, infrastructure and energy.
