* One or more mergers between Italian water operators look likely in the autumn, according to the local press.

Hera, which is active in central and northern Italy, is in talks with both Rome-based ACEA and Turin-based Iride. A merger between Hera and one or more utilities – possibly including AEM Milano and ASM Brescia – could produce Italy’s largest multi-utility and one of Europe’s leading water and wastewater operators.
