Mekorot to compete with the private sector

Under a new agreement, Mekorot will become a holding company, controlling a trio of subsidiaries. The bulk of the new projects arm will be sold off via an IPO.

The Israeli government and Mekorot Water Company Ltd. have signed an agreement for implementing structural reform at the state-owned utility. The deal, signed on 29 August, also includes a tariff agreement which factors in ongoing support from the government.
