Israel receives water reuse boost

A new tertiary treatment standard will enable more water to be recycled for agriculture in Israel. A mix of new facilities and retrofits will be required.
Israel’s Water Authority has approved a tertiary water purification standard, which it estimates will cost around $200 million to implement over the next decade. The cost will be partially offset by the greater volumes of wastewater which will be reused – water purified to tertiary standards is suitable for the unrestricted irrigation of all types of crops.
