Ofwat clamps down on water efficiency

The economic regulator has set improved water efficiency targets for the English and Welsh water companies. It has looked abroad for inspiration.

Ofwat has announced targets for water companies in England and Wales to increase their water efficiency savings by at least 23 million litres a day from 2010 onwards. This is in addition to savings from leakage reduction, and from increasing meter penetration.
