The re-election of the Socialists in Spain should ensure the smooth completion of the government’s desalination programme. Irrigators, meanwhile, are keen to re-engage in battle.
The electoral success in Spain’s northeast which clinched victory for the Socialist Party (PSOE) in the general election on 9th March was a vote of confidence in the government’s policy of promoting demand management of water and expanding desalination capacity, according to Environment Minister Cristina Narbona.
