* Mekorot will purchase 10MW of electricity from a private power producer in an attempt to cut its energy costs.
The company is buying electricity from the Delek Group, which set up an 80MW power plant adjacent to the Ashkelon desalination plant. Mekorot currently pays $160 million a year for electricity and consumes 6% of the electricity produced in Israel.
