* Agbar’s net profits fell 17.3% in the first quarter of 2008 to €37.9 million, despite a 9.7% rise in operating income to €753.9 million and a 23.8% increase in profits from operations to €112.6 million.

The company blamed the fall in net profits on the absence of extraordinary income compared to last year, although the €45.8 million net profit figure for the first quarter of 2007 was almost exactly in line with the €45.6 million number reported in the same quarter of 2006.
