Gelsenwasser expands sales thanks to French deal

Gelsenwasser’s water turnover increased last year, partly thanks to a deal with French concessionaire NES. A proposed mega-merger means that the company now has bigger fish to fry.

Water sales at Gelsenwasser, Germany’s largest water supplier, increased incrementally to 236 million m3 in 2007 from 235.5 million m3 in 2006. This was due to the inclusion of 2.8 million m3 of sales made by new French subsidiary Nantaise des Eaux Services, in which Gelsenwasser took a 60% stake last year for €9 million.
