Israel unveils drought-busting water strategy

Israel has announced a series of emergency measures to deal with its water crisis. The price at which it is offering to buy desalinated water has raised a few eyebrows.

On 1st June, the Israeli government approved a new emergency programme to address the country’s growing water shortage. The passage of the plan came on the same day the government officially declared a drought, which means farmers will be compensated for commercial losses.
