Regulators act as Aquavitae loses vital signs

The news that Aquavitae has gone into administration is a step backwards for the regulators’ ambitions to further competition in the water sector.
The regulators in England and Scotland have taken steps to revoke Aquavitae’s trading licences after the company went into adminstration on 9th June. Ofwat reacted first, revoking the company’s water supply licence on 30 June, while WICS started proceedings to revoke Aquavitae’s licences to trade in Scotland on 3rd July.
