Cities around the world continue to favour cheap water at the expense of investment and conservation. The approaching water crisis is forcing a radical rethink, according to the GWI/OECD 2008 Global Water Tariff Survey.
A glance across the data from the 2008 GWI/OECD Global Water Tariff Survey gives the immediate impression that not much has changed. 115 out of the 261 cities surveyed have indeed left their tariffs unchanged. However, a significant minority have introduced steep increases in what they charge for water and wastewater.
