Desalination Short School - 7th & 8th July

A recent market research study, specially commissioned by GWI to discover the precise gaps in current desalination training around the world, provides the design rationale of this new program for senior executives. The Desalination Short School plugs a practical knowledge deficit with a rare opportunity to get to grips with the technical aspects of some high visibility world-class projects. The course claims unique staus by proffering a highly practical and interactive case-study approach, delivered by two very experienced and well-known practitioners from the desalination industry.

“We’ll be focussing on the practical aspects of seawater desalination and the examples we’ll be profiling will be from our own first-hand experiences”, says Tom Pankratz, Editor of Water Desalination Report (WDR) and one of the course experts. “It won’t be just a slide show. We’re fully conversant with all the details of these projects as we’ve actually been involved in their design and delivery”. He promises a lively, in-depth look at how decisions are made and the pitfalls to avoid. The practical nature of the course is supported by question and answer sessions and a 2-hour tour of the Tuas Singspring Plant, guided by a senior Hyflux manager. The two days will cover feasibility & pilot studies, commissioning, testing and the post-completion issues of specific plants, from the Middle East, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

The course will also be tutored by John Tonner, Principal at Water Consultants International, and GWI’s Christopher Gasson will present the current global picture for desalination market conditions and market forecasts. Participants will be drawn from contractors, consultants, offtakers, water utilities, suppliers, O&M personnel and researchers – all those looking to gain additional knowledge and an extra edge in the desal field.
