ILF wins breakthrough Fujairah advisory contract
Published 29th July 2010
ILF has won a contract with ADWEA for advisory services on the Fujairah 1 SWRO expansion project, which will expand the existing 170,000m³/d SWRO section of the hybrid plant by 136,000m³/d (30MIGD), on a 7-year DBO basis. ILF’s win over rival bidders Mott McDonald and Fichtner breaks the hold which the two companies, along with Lahmeyer, have traditionally had over advisory contracts for desalination with ADWEA, and with it the traditional favouring of thermal technologies.
The contract win is a significant vindication of the appointment of Corrado Sommariva, who joined ILF as head of the Middle East business from Mott MacDonald in 2009.
Developer Sembcorp is expected to seek an EPC contractor for the F1 expansion before the end of this year.
