Severn Trent marks first victory in Irish DBO market

Severn Trent Services has secured its first design-build-operate contract in Ireland, and expects to ink key documents in the coming weeks for a €25 million 20-year deal to construct and operate a wastewater treatment plant in Letterkenny in County Donegal.

STS won the contract in joint venture with County Cork-based Response Group, and the victory comes just months after the Severn Trent Response JV signed its first ever water contract in the republic – a €60 million 20-year deal to operate and maintain the Limerick WWTP, which serves a population equivalent (p.e.) of 130,000.

The Letterkenny plant is expected to have a capacity of 40,000 p.e., and is one of two sizeable wastewater DBO packages currently envisaged by Donegal county council.

Severn Trent Response is well positioned to take advantage of upcoming DBO opportunities in the Irish water sector – it is currently pre-qualified for a brace of projects in County Wicklow.
