Head of Research: Gemma Allen
Gemma joined GWI in 2014 after completing a Master's degree in Archaeology, and a BSc in Geography. She leads our Research team alongside Francisco Virgili, and has managed and worked on a variety of market reports, with particular understanding of industrial water markets, ballast water treatment, and water treatment chemicals.
Head of Data Analysis: Francisco Virgili
Francisco joined GWI in 2014 as DesalData Editor responsible for our desalination-related products following a transition from academia after completing a PhD and research fellowship in astronomy. Together with Gemma Allen, he manages the Research team, focusing primarily on data collection and analysis for our various research products as well as desalination.
Senior Project Manager: Clara Gonzalez-Manchon
Clara joined GWI in 2010, after five years in the environmental non-profit sector. She holds an MSc in Environmental Management and Policy from Lund University. Clara has managed and worked on a variety of market intelligence reports, covering both industrial (e.g. power, mining and food and beverage) and municipal water markets.
Senior Analyst: Hector Brown
Hector joined GWI as a Research Analyst in 2012. Since arriving at the company he has helped to coordinate GWI's library of data and market forecasts relating to the global water sector, with a particular focus on analysing trends in the worldwide desalination and industrial markets
Research Analyst: Amy McFie
Amy joined GWI’s Research team in 2016, after completing Master’s and BA (hons) degrees in English Literature from Durham University. She has worked on several reports covering different water markets, specifically focusing on areas within Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia-Pacific regions, as well as developing her interests in editing and production.
Research Analyst: Melissa Affleck
Melissa joined GWI in 2016, after 3 years of environmental research in academia. She has an MSc in Environmental Management from the University of Edinburgh and Scottish Agricultural College. Since arriving at the company, she has been involved in various aspects of the water market, with particular focus on the Middle East region.
Research Analyst: César Benedí-Bozalongo
César joined GWI's Research team in 2016, after working as a Financial Analyst in Spain and the UK. César holds a Master's degree in International Trade, Finance, and Development at Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and a BSc in Economics. He has gained particular understanding of the Spanish and Chilean markets and continues to develop and provide data analysis support to our various research products.
Head of Production: Charlotte Massey
Charlotte joined GWI's research team in 2010, after achieving a first-class honours degree in English Literature at Cardiff University. A keen interest in design led her to focus on developing her knowledge of production, and Charlotte now leads the department's production team in the editing and layout of publications.
Designer: Sam Pilgrim
Sam joined GWI in 2016 after several years working in educational publishing. He works closely with the research and editorial teams to develop the design and production of GWI’s publications. Sam has a particular interest in visualising data and creating engaging graphics to better communicate the information that GWI provides to customers.
