Mekorot shake-up paves the way for privatisation

Israel’s Ministries of Finance and National Infrastructure have at last approved the restructuring plans for Mekorot, paving the way for the company to enter joint ventures with private partners. Israeli analysts have billed the reorganisation – in the making for nearly five years – as the first phase of the company’s privatisation.

The new plan calls for establishing a holding company, Mekorot Holdings, that will have full control of three subsidiaries: Mekorot Water Supply, Mekorot Initiatives and Development, and Mekorot Assets.
