Spanish water sector reels under new corruption scandal

Allegations of corrupt practices in the awarding of key infrastructure contracts have resulted in the arrest of several key figures in the Spanish private water industry.

Top executives at Acciona and FCC and at the Spanish government’s Acuamed water procurement company are among 13 people arrested in ongoing investigations earlier this month into alleged fraud in the awarding and payment of infrastructure contracts.
