Clearfleau gets new lease of life under EnviroChemie

German water technology company EnviroChemie has bought UK industrial wastewater treatment specialist Clearfleau out of administration, giving it an entry point into the UK industrial market.
Clearfleau has already seen good commercial traction for its turnkey anaerobic digestion plants, signing up blue-chip customers in the food and beverage sector, including Nestle and Diageo. Its proprietary system is able to digest effluent loads with significantly higher solids content than traditional AD systems, making it particularly suitable for a number of applications with high-strength effluent streams, such as confectionery plants, distilleries, and breweries.
“Our idea is to broaden their portfolio in the UK and use this as our entry into the UK market on the industrial side,” said Reinhard Huebner, investment manager at SKion GmbH, the parent company of EnviroChemie. “They’ve got excellent references in terms of customers, which is quite an achievement for a young company,” he told GWI.
