FCC Aqualia today reported a 5.8% rise in revenue to €244.9 million in the first quarter of 2018. The additional sales were generated by its Czech SmVaK water distribution business, by the El Alamein desalination plant which is under construction in Egypt, and by new wastewater O&M contracts in Burgos, Madrid and La Rioja, Spain.

Meanwhile, Aqualia’s EBITDA rose 1.4% to €51.9 million, while operating income fell 1.3% to €29.7 million.

Sacyr’s first-quarter results – also released today – show that subsidiary Valoriza Agua increased revenue from EPC operations by 65% to €33 million in the first quarter of the year, thanks largely to its contract to build the 250,000m3/d Sohar desalination plant in Oman.

Revenue from its concessions businesses in the Iberian peninsula was 4% higher at €29 million as a result of new concessions awarded in the previous quarter.

Acciona Agua, meanwhile, is due to publish its quarterly results tomorrow.
