Typhon seeks equity to fund UV LED commercialisation
Published October 4th, 2018
UV LED water treatment start-up Typhon Treatment Systems is in the process of raising a single-digit million dollar equity round as it looks to ramp up the commercialisation of its first product.
Over the past three years, the company has raised two smaller runding rounds to support the ongoing development of its system, which it claims can reduce energy consumption in UV water treatment systems by as much as 90%.
CEO Peter McNulty told GWI that he believes his system is now commercially competitive in its capacity range (around 200-750m3/hour), and the company has been working with a major UK utility to validate the system at a dedicated test facility.
As part of its commercialisation drive, Typhon has also hired Xylem veteran Mike Hemingway to head up its sales effort with effect from November this year.
The funding round is scheduled to close in early 2019.
